- A story about Cod

For Centuries, local fishermen have enjoyed what we now offer: the best possible quality in wild, fresh, line-caught cod. Norfra cooperates with local fishermen to make this product available to you. Norwegian Vikings were among the first to begin trading cod caught from arctic waters. In those days the fish was dried whereas today we can provide fresh cod from these stormy but plentiful seas. Despite towering waves and windy seas, bold and highly skilled fishermen enter their weather-beaten boats to find the gifts the sea bestows. With love and respect for the sea, they handle these gifts with care. Also thanks to strict regulations regadring fisheries, the stock of cod in North Norwegian waters remains in good condition.

The knowledge of how best preserve the quality of cod has been accumulated and passed down through family tradition for generations. We work together with the fishermen to bring you the gift they have known for more than a millennium and that the rest of the world is now discovering. The exquisite cod provides adventure, whether in the open seas, in your business, in an exclusive restaurant or at home.

To meet the increasing demand for fresh Norwegian cod from our quality-focused customers, we do the following: We start with the fish from small coastal vessels, equipped with environmentally friendly lines as fishing gear.
